City of Venice bans pigeon-feeding and imposes fines to tourists: The city of Venice has faced a long-time pigeon problem and has had to make expenses for the removal of their nests (as you can see in this official, Italian document) and in this interesting posting at the 'Weird Venice' blog. So, the city is on an anti-pigeon spree. Having recently banned pigeon-feeding in most parts of town, it has now revoked birdseed sellers' licences in St. Mark's Square. Reuters is reporting that the ban is effective starting on Wed., 30 April 2008, while tourists caught feeding the pigeons will face a fine of at least 50Euros.
